Lavinia Barone

Psychologist and psychotherapist, full professor at the University of Pavia.
She discovered DBT in the 1990s at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in New York and contributed to bringing it and spreading it in Italy by editing all editions of the manuals in Italian. For about 25 years she has been applying and spreading DBT in numerous training events and is a certified DBT clinician (DBT-Linehan Board of Certification) and trainer recognized by Btech.
She is a founding member of SIDBT and current president.

Donatella Fiore

is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist at the Terzocentro di Psicoterapia Cognitiva in Rome.
Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome in 1995, where she subsequently specialized in Psychiatry, she attended the Specialization School of Cognitive Psychotherapy Rome (APC) and the Specialization Course in Psychopharmacology, obtaining the specialization in Cognitive Psychotherapy and in Psychopharmacology.
She is registered with the Medical Association and the list of Psychotherapists and a teacher of the Italian Society of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy (SITCC), of the Association of Cognitive Psychology (APC) and of the School of Cognitive Psychotherapy (SPC). She is former vice president of the Society for Research in Psychotherapy (SPC).
She worked as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist at the “Villa Maria Pia” Neuropsychiatric Clinic in Rome and in the “Le Palme” and “Gli Oleandri” Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Communities, where she also carried out clinical supervision activities. Member of the Italian Association for the Study of Personality Disorders (AISDP), she has participated in the publication of scientific texts and articles regarding the treatment of Personality Disorders.
She was trained in the first Italian Intensive Training with Marsha Linehan and Kathryn E. Korslund and is a founding member and Vice-President of the Italian Society of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (SIDBT), where she also acts as a teacher and supervisor. She is responsible for disseminating the model through intense clinical and training activity in public and private structures and at psychotherapy schools. Furthermore, she is responsible for the DBT team of the Terzocentro di Psicoterapia in Rome, dealing with the treatment of adults and adolescents.

Cesare Maffei

Doctor Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist, Full Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan and is now Professor Emeritus. He founded and directed the Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy Service of the San Raffaele Turro Hospital in Milan from 1988 to 2021. He currently works clinically at the “Santa Croce” Center of the San Raffaele Hospital.
President of the International Society for the Study of Personality Disorders (ISSPD) from 2003 to 2007, he was among the founders of the SIDBT (Italian Society for Dialectical Behavior Therapy) of which he was President from 2011 to 2022. He is currently part of the group of international work that founded WADBT (World Association for Dialectical Behavior Therapy). President since 2019 of the MUR (Ministry of University and Research) Commission for the recognition and evaluation of private psychotherapy schools.
Supervised by Marsha Linehan in his training as a DBT therapist, he is a Trainer, Teacher and Supervisor within SIDBT.
Author of numerous international publications in the field of diagnosis and treatment of personality disorders, in particular borderline disorder. In 2021 he published a volume “Beyond personality. Systemic dialectics and borderline development” (Raffaello Cortina Editore). He edited the Italian translation of S. Rizvi's volume "The analysis of behavioral chains in DBT" and of Marsha Linehan's autobiography "A life worth living".
Together with Lavinia Barone, he edited the Italian translation of the new edition of Marsha Linehan's DBT manual, ("Cognitive-behavioral treatment of borderline disorder. The DBT model" and "DBT Skills Training") and of the version adapted for adolescents. All the above translations were published by Raffaello Cortina Editore, Milan.
